The goal of the Holy CYO Basketball Program is to provide a high quality basketball experience that promotes player and team development, while playing competitve basketball on a CYO team.  Every attempt is made to put each team member in a position to experience success.

All team members will receive the benefit from increased practice opportunities while participating in the Intramural program and competitive playing time.  All players should be present for and prepared to play in all games.  A positive and disciplined “team” attitude is expected of all players at all practices and games.  Attendance, effort and focus at practices are essential if game playing time is expected.  The behavior/conduct of all players, coaches, and parents are expected to reflect positively on the Holy Child Parish.

Expectations & Code of Conduct 

• Players are expected to read and understand the Holy Child Basketball Mission Statement
• By accepting placement on a Holy Child CYO/Intramural team, players are committing their time to basketball for the duration of the season.  If a player continually misses practices, intramurals and/or games due to their conflicts, sports or otherwise, the amount of playing time that they recieve during CYO games will be affected.  
• Players must act maturely and responsibly when representing the Holy Child Basketball Program and the Holy Child Parish at all basketball functions.
• Players must adhere to a TEAM concept in practices/intramurals/games and must committ to hustling on both offense and defense.  Selfish play and lack of hustle will not be tolerated.
• Coach decisions, policies, and practice/game managment must be respected.  If a player has a concern or question regarding the team or the coach’s approach, he/she should ask the coach or the assistant coach directly, or ask a parent to speak with the coach(s).  During the CYO Season we request a 24 hour cool off period before you speak with the head coach or assistant coach after a game.
• Every player is expected to show respect for everyone including (but not limited to) teammates, coaches, officials, other teams, other Holy Child participants such as non-cyo players in our intramural program.
• Players are expected to arrive at all practices, intramural and CYO games on time, dressed, and ready to play as directed by the coach.  Teams need to use their scheduled practice and intramural games for productive skills, drills and scrimmages.  
• If a player is going to be late or miss a practice, intramual or CYO game, he/she and or parent must notify the coach reasonably in advance so that the coach can plan accordingly.  If a player misses consecutive practices prior the a game, the coach has the discretion to decrease or limit playing time.  
• Yelling, swearing, trash-talking, and negative questioning of officials, opponents, or coaches is absolutely not tolerated by our organization or any other CYO Program.  Players who exhibit unsportsmanlike behavior can and will be removed from practice(s), intramual and CYO game(s) at the discretion of the Coach, Holy Child CYO Director, Gym Coordinators and/or  game official(s).   
• Players must behave properly at all basketball facilities.  This includes staying with the designated practice gyms and not roaming through the schools, adhering to the posted rules at all other Parishes.  (i.e. not bouncing balls in common areas), and not interferring with other practices/games in progress.  
• Winning is positive and rewarding, especially in competitive CYO Basketball.  However, we encourage our players to focus on having fun, developing their basketball skills, and working together with their teammates and coaches.  
• If a player is not meeting the above Holy Child Basketball Expectations or not following the Code of Conduct, as determined by the coaches and/or the Board, that player can be subjected to disciplinary actions up to and including lesser playing time or in severe cases removal from his team without a refund.
